Wholesale Markets in Lagos: Complete Buyer Guide (2026)

October 21, 2026

The wholesale markets in Lagos are where much of Nigeria's trade in electronics, spare parts, fabrics and general goods changes hands, and for a small trader they are often the quickest way to stock a shop. Each market has its own specialty: Alaba for electronics and appliances, Ladipo for vehicle spare parts, Idumota and Balogun for a wide mix of goods, Computer Village for electronics and repairs, and the Trade Fair complex for exhibitions and new spare parts. This guide explains what each is known for, based on published sources read in October 2026, and how to buy in bulk without being caught out.

Markets change: traders move, buildings are redeveloped and relocation plans are announced. Prices and stalls are not covered here. Visit, compare and confirm in person before you commit money.

Idumota and Balogun: Lagos Island general trade

Culture Trip's guide to the best markets in Nigeria describes Idumota as sitting in the heart of Lagos, selling almost everything, and notes it is also popularly called Balogun market. The article treats them as one market, so when you ask for directions or a contact, name the specific street or plaza as well as the product. Nairametrics adds that the Osinowo area of Idumota specialises in car accessories and body parts such as mirrors, headlights and bumpers.

This is a general-goods district, so it suits traders who want variety and are comfortable negotiating. Bring a written list of the items, sizes and quantities you want.

Alaba International Market, Ojo: electronics and appliances

Culture Trip calls Alaba, in Ojo, the headquarters of electronic appliances in Nigeria, known for appliances and for Nollywood movie distribution. It is an Ojo, Lagos State, destination rather than a central one, so plan your transport and timing before a stock run and check current access conditions.

If you buy electrical goods in bulk, test them at the stall, ask what warranty or return arrangement the seller offers in writing, and check that models meet the standards your customers expect. Our guide to wholesale electronics and phones covers sourcing from abroad as well.

Ladipo, Mushin: vehicle spare parts

Nairametrics' September 2025 article on the largest auto spare parts markets in Lagos calls Ladipo, in Mushin, arguably the largest spare parts market in Nigeria. It says Ladipo sells mainly used imported (Tokunbo) parts from dismantled vehicles abroad, including engines, gearboxes, bumpers and lighting, across virtually every make and model, and that it serves bulk buyers from across West Africa. The same article lists other parts markets: Oyingbo, best known for Honda spares; Iyana-Itire, for Tokunbo truck parts and Volkswagen spares; Ojuelegba, a mix of new and used parts; and Trinity Market on Apapa Road, selling Tokunbo and new parts.

For parts, quality and fitment matter more than price. Take the part number or the old part, ask for a written receipt and test where possible. Our guide on exporting auto parts to Africa shows what overseas suppliers offer.

Computer Village, Ikeja: electronics and repairs

Computer Village is in Otigba, Ikeja. Culture Trip describes it as one of the biggest electronics markets in Nigeria and a one-stop shop for electronics repairs. The Lagos State Government has for years planned to move the traders. Radio Nigeria Lagos reported in September 2025, after a stakeholder meeting at the Computer Village market square, that the relocation exercise was continuing and that the government was pushing construction of an ICT and Business Park at Katangowa in Agbado Oke-Odo. Because relocation plans change, confirm where a trader operates today before you travel. Our guide to wholesale electronics and phones and laptop prices in Nigeria may help you benchmark.

Lagos International Trade Fair Complex

The Bureau of Public Enterprises describes the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex as sitting on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Festac, with exhibition halls, an office and administration complex and a warehouse complex, and says it manages exhibitions and trade fairs and rents out halls and open spaces. It also says several facilities are in disrepair and that a concession to a facility manager had been proposed. Nairametrics reports that the Trade Fair spare parts section focuses on brand-new parts imported from China and parts of Europe, attracting higher-budget buyers. If you want new rather than used parts, it is worth comparing the Trade Fair section with Ladipo.

How to buy from wholesale markets in Lagos

  1. Do a first visit without paying. Compare at least three sellers on the same item and write down what each offers.
  2. Ask for the unit and carton price. Many traders sell by the carton, dozen or bundle. Confirm what a "unit" means.
  3. Inspect and count. Open cartons, check serial numbers and test what you can.
  4. Get a written receipt with the date, items, quantity, price and the seller's contact details.
  5. Plan transport and security. Agree how goods leave the market, who loads them and where they go.
  6. Keep the numbers. Record cost, transport and market charges to price your goods properly. See starting a wholesale business in Nigeria.

Wholesale markets in Lagos versus importing directly

Buying in the market gives you same-day stock and the chance to inspect, but you are paying a trader's margin and often cannot see the factory. Importing directly can give a lower unit cost on larger orders but needs time, capital and customs clearance.
