Washing Machine Prices in Nigeria (2026): Twin Tub to Automatic

C

October 21, 2026

Washing machine prices in Nigeria start under ₦50,000 for a basic twin tub and climb past ₦500,000 for a large automatic, so the first decision is the type of machine, not the brand. Choose wrongly and you either pay for features your water supply and power cannot support, or you buy a cheap machine that costs more in time and effort than you expected. This guide sets out the price bands we read in October 2026, compares twin tub vs automatic, explains what LG, Hisense and Haier models cost on the pages we fetched, and gives you a checklist for buying.

The figures come from retailer guides, so they are listed prices, not independent surveys. Prices move with the naira rate, so confirm with sellers before you pay.

Twin tub washing machine prices in Nigeria

A twin tub has one tub for washing and one for spinning, and you move the clothes between them by hand. Zit, an online electronics store, published a twin tub price list dated 5 August 2026. Selected listings:

Brand and capacityListed price
Polystar 5.7kg₦39,000
Century 6kg₦47,000
Nexus 7.5kg₦57,990
Hisense 10kg₦76,500
Haier Thermocool 10kg₦80,000
Polystar 12kg₦101,750
LG WM-850 7kg₦94,320
LG WM-1400 10kg₦135,840

Across that list, most 6kg to 12kg twin tubs from brands such as Century, Midea, Nexus, Qasa, Scanfrost and Syinix fell between roughly ₦47,000 and ₦102,000, with LG mostly higher. The page noted that the Scanfrost 6.8kg model came with a 2-year warranty from PAN Nigeria. It also said you can find a twin tub for as low as ₦40,000, which matches its lowest listing of ₦39,000.

Front load washing machine prices in Nigeria

Front loaders wash, rinse and spin in one drum and use less water. Zit's front load guide, dated 5 August 2026, listed these models:

  • Haier Thermocool 5kg front load: ₦146,160
  • Hisense 8kg front loader (WM 8012S): ₦149,500
  • Ignis 6kg front loader: ₦159,000
  • LG 6.5kg front loader (WM 2J3WDNP0): ₦175,000
  • Maxi 8kg wash and 5kg dry washer-dryer: ₦193,200

Zit also said front loaders start at about ₦95,000, though it listed no model at that price. It described front loaders as more efficient and quieter, using about a third of the water of a top loader, but costing more up front. Because Zit sells these products, treat those claims as the retailer's view and read the specification sheet yourself.

Automatic top loader and LG washing machine prices

Automatic top loaders fill, wash and drain by themselves. Zit's LG range guide, dated 5 August 2026, listed several LG machines (some with two prices, which we leave out):

  • LG 8kg smart inverter top load (WM-85S1TDDT2): ₦401,350
  • LG 9kg smart inverter top load: about ₦493,500 to ₦493,750
  • LG 13kg top loader automatic: about ₦553,000 to ₦597,200 across listings
  • LG 9kg manual top loader (WM 961 RWNL): ₦286,350
  • LG 20kg wash and 10kg dry front load: ₦1,351,250

The same guide gave price bands for the two main types: twin tub at ₦95,000 to ₦130,000 for 7kg and ₦170,000 to ₦200,000 for 14kg, and automatic top loader at ₦180,000 to ₦280,000 for 7kg to 8kg and ₦220,000 to ₦350,000 for 9kg to 10kg. Notice that its LG model listings sit above those bands, and that Zit's twin tub page lists an LG 7kg twin tub at ₦94,320 while its LG page lists a 7kg twin tub at ₦224,250. When one retailer's pages disagree, ask for the exact model number and a written quote.

Twin tub vs automatic: which suits your home

Zit's guide describes the trade-off clearly. A twin tub is the cheapest option and suits areas with weak water pressure, because the water can be reused for rinsing, but you fill, drain and move clothes by hand and it takes more floor space. An automatic top loader is more convenient but uses more water and can tangle clothes more.

Zit also estimated running costs for a 10kg machine at about 12 washes a month: ₦800 to ₦1,200 for a twin tub, ₦1,800 to ₦2,500 for a non-inverter top loader and ₦1,200 to ₦1,800 for an inverter top loader. These are the retailer's own estimates and are not independently verified, but the direction is useful: a cheap machine is not always the cheapest to run, and an inverter model may lower electricity costs.

Questions to settle first:

  • Do you have a steady water supply, or do you fetch water from a tank or borehole?
  • How many people's laundry will you wash, and how often?
  • Will the machine run on a generator or inverter during power cuts?
  • Where will it sit, and is there a drain or hose point?

How to buy a washing machine safely

  1. Match capacity to need. A 6kg to 8kg machine suits a small household; large families or business use need more.
  2. Get the exact model number and compare it across at least three sellers, because model codes differ by a letter or two.
  3. Ask for the warranty in writing and who services the machine locally.
  4. Check the machine on delivery: power it on, run a short cycle and confirm the drain works before the delivery person leaves.
  5. Keep the receipt. If something goes wrong, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission says on its complaint handling page that you can lodge a complaint on its portal and attach receipts and agreements.
