Buy Made-in-Nigeria Products Wholesale: A Buyer's Guide (2026)

October 19, 2026
More buyers now want to buy made-in-Nigeria products wholesale: shops stocking local brands, hotels and schools buying supplies, retailers in Ghana or Kenya importing from Lagos, and resellers who want shorter supply chains. This guide explains how to find Nigerian factories, what approvals to ask for, how to check them, and how to place a first order safely. It uses official pages from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and NAFDAC, read in October 2026. Rules change, so confirm with the authority before you rely on any certificate.
Step 1: define exactly what you need
Write down the product, size or pack, quantity per order, target price range, delivery location and the date you need it. Factories answer precise requests faster. If you are not sure how to describe a product, our guide to writing an RFQ gives a template.
Step 2: find Nigerian manufacturers
- B2B catalog. Browse suppliers' products, MOQs and tiered prices at /browse, and use the supplier directory to see who sells what.
- Request quotations. Submit a request at /request-quotation with your product, quantity and delivery country. Approved suppliers can browse open requests and answer with a quotation, or chat with you directly.
- Industrial clusters. Cities such as Lagos, Kano, Onitsha, Aba and Ibadan have large markets and factories. Our city guides cover wholesale suppliers in Onitsha, in Ibadan, in Kaduna and in Port Harcourt.
For a broader method, read how to find verified wholesale suppliers in Nigeria and sourcing products from African manufacturers.
Step 3: ask for the right approvals
Which approvals apply depends on the product. The common ones for locally made goods are below.
MANCAP from SON
SON describes the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) as a certification scheme for locally manufactured products, run under the SON Act. According to the SON MANCAP FAQ, a product that completes the process receives a MANCAP certificate and a logo carrying a unique identification number that can be placed on each unit or its label. The certificate is valid for three years, and SON state offices carry out quarterly factory inspections during that time. Ask the supplier for the certificate and the number, and note the dates. SON's pages we read do not describe a public lookup for the number, so ask SON through its state office if you need confirmation. Not every product is covered, so a supplier without MANCAP is not automatically non-compliant; ask which approval applies to the product.
NAFDAC registration
NAFDAC says regulated products such as food and cosmetics cannot be manufactured, sold or distributed in Nigeria unless registered. Ask for the NAFDAC registration number and a copy of the certificate, and check that the product name and manufacturer on the pack match it. NAFDAC's Greenbook is described as Nigeria's registered product database, searchable by product name, NAFDAC registration number, applicant name and approval date, with categories such as drugs, medical devices, herbals and disinfectants. The categories we saw did not list food or cosmetics, so for those, ask the supplier for the certificate and confirm with NAFDAC directly. See also NAFDAC registration for food products and for cosmetics.
Business registration
Ask for the company's CAC registration details and tax number, and check that the name matches the invoices you will receive. See verifying a supplier before you pay.
Step 4: request samples and compare
Order samples from two or three factories. Check the product against the spec, the label against the approval, and the packing against what your customers expect. Ask whether the sample is from a normal production batch. Keep notes and photos. On Comilmart, sample orders are available, so ask the supplier about sample terms. Also read how quotes, samples and proforma invoices work.
Step 5: confirm the order terms in writing
- Product, spec and approved sample reference.
- Quantity, MOQ and price tier, currency and what the price includes.
- Delivery: for B2B orders on Comilmart, suppliers arrange and pay for shipping and delivery, and we do not handle freight, customs clearance or duties. Agree the terms in writing.
- Production lead time and delivery date.
- Payment terms. For payment methods, ask Comilmart through live chat or /contact-us.
Our buyer protection holds payment until delivery is confirmed, with a 7-day window; read the details at /buyer-protection.
Step 6: if you are importing the goods to another country
Buyers in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda or elsewhere will also need to meet their own import rules, and ECOWAS and EAC duty rules vary. Read ECOWAS and EAC import duties explained and, for a Nigerian factory exporting within Africa, AfCFTA for African manufacturers.
Warning signs when buying from any supplier
- No registration number, or a number that does not match the product name or company on the pack.
- Refusing to share a business address or to allow a visit or video walk-through.
- Pressure to pay quickly outside the platform or to a personal account.
- Prices far below every other quote, with no explanation.
- Photos that look copied from elsewhere, or a sample that differs from the production batch.
Read staying safe on Comilmart and report anything suspicious, as explained in how to report abuse or fraud.
