Register as a Food Manufacturer on Comilmart: Documents (2026)

October 13, 2026

If you make or process food in Africa and want to sell on Comilmart, the first job is the supplier application. This guide explains how to register as a food manufacturer on Comilmart: what the form at /apply-manufacturer asks for, which documents a Nigerian, Ghanaian or Kenyan food business typically holds that correspond to each field, and how to prepare your files so review goes smoothly. The examples come from official government and regulator pages we read in October 2026. They are examples of document types, not a list of what Comilmart accepts. The reviewer decides what is accepted, so ask us through live chat or /contact-us if you are unsure.

How to register as a food manufacturer on Comilmart: what the form asks for

Supplier and manufacturer accounts are created through an application at /apply-manufacturer, which includes know-your-supplier (KYS) verification. It is free to apply. The form requires:

  • A company registration number
  • A tax number
  • A business licence upload
  • A registration certificate upload
  • At least two sample product images
  • Your company mission, vision and core values
  • At least one B2B category (choose the category that fits your products)

Country, state and city are free text, so a food business in Lagos, Kumasi or Nakuru enters its own location. The form states that admin review takes about 24 to 48 hours. We cannot promise that any application will be accepted.

Documents a food manufacturer in Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya may hold

Every country names its documents differently. In general terms, the registration number and registration certificate come from the registry where the business was formed, the tax number comes from the tax authority, and the business licence is whatever permit your activity requires. Use this table as a starting point only.

Form fieldNigeriaGhanaKenya
Registration number and certificateRegistration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), which handles companies and business namesRegistration through the Registrar-General's Department, and the certificate of incorporation or business registrationRegistration through the Business Registration Service (BRS)

Business licencePossibly a regulator document such as a NAFDAC inspection or GMP certificate, or another permit your activity needsPossibly a Food and Drugs Authority facility licence, or another permit your activity needsPossibly a KEBS Standardization Mark permit where it applies, or another permit your activity needs

Your country may have no single document called a business licence. If you hold none, say so and ask us in live chat before you apply.

Nigeria: CAC, TIN and NAFDAC documents

The Corporate Affairs Commission says it handles the incorporation, regulation and supervision of companies, business names and incorporated trustees. See the CAC website. For tax, the Joint Tax Board explains that a Tax Identification Number (TIN) is a unique identifier for an individual or a company, used for tax remittance, and issued to individuals and registered businesses. Read the JTB page. The Nigeria Revenue Service site also has a TIN page, so use the official portal you are directed to and avoid paying third parties for what you can do yourself.

For food products, NAFDAC's registration guidelines for food made in Nigeria list evidence of business incorporation, an inspection or GMP certificate, product labels and a Certificate of Analysis among the registration documents. These are product-approval documents, separate from CAC and tax records, but some may be relevant to the licence field. Our guide to NAFDAC registration for food products explains the process.

Ghana: Registrar-General, GRA and FDA documents

The Ghana Revenue Authority says organisations must first register with the Registrar-General's Department (RGD) and can then obtain a TIN at GRA's TIN Centre co-located at the RGD. It adds that the Ghana Card PIN has replaced the TIN for individuals, while organisations and companies keep using TINs. See the GRA TIN page. GRA's tax registration page lists a certificate of incorporation or business registration among documents for businesses. The Food and Drugs Authority lists an application form for licensing a food manufacturing establishment on its manufacturing page, but we could not confirm the document requirements, so check its current forms. See also our guide to Ghana FDA registration for food manufacturers.

Kenya: BRS, KRA PIN and KEBS documents

The Business Registration Service describes company registration as an online process in which name reservation and registration are merged into one step. For tax, the Kenya Revenue Authority says company PIN registration is done online through iTax and uses business registration certificate details, the PINs of the directors and their national IDs. See the KRA page. The KEBS Standardization Mark pages list a company registration number and a KRA PIN among the details needed at application, which shows how these records are used together. Our guide to KEBS certification for food manufacturers covers the permit.

Prepare your files before you start

  1. Scan clearly. Upload complete, readable pages of the registration certificate and licence, with stamps and numbers visible.
  2. Copy numbers exactly as they appear on your documents.
  3. Choose two or more real product photos, showing your actual packs on a plain background.
  4. Write the mission, vision and values in plain language. Say who you are, what you make and how you work.
  5. Pick the B2B category that fits your products, the one a buyer would search.
  6. Make sure names match. The business name should be the same across your documents.

After you apply: review and plans

The form states that admin review takes about 24 to 48 hours. If the reviewer needs something more, respond quickly. Supplier plans are optional. The Standard plan costs $0 per year and uses the normal verification queue. The Starter plan costs $99 per year and includes fast-tracked verification. Higher plans add search boosts and other features, which we describe in our post on winning bulk food orders on Comilmart. Payment methods and currencies for suppliers are not covered here, so ask Comilmart through live chat or /contact-us.
