Solar Panel and Inverter Prices in Uganda 2026

October 8, 2026

Anyone checking the solar panel price in Uganda in 2026 will notice how wide the range is. A 600W panel can be listed anywhere from about UGX 430,000 to UGX 580,000, and a small lighting kit can cost less than a single battery. This guide collects shilling prices from live Ugandan listings seen in October 2026 (plus one dated May 2026), sorted by component, so you can see what a realistic budget looks like before you ask for quotes. Treat everything here as a starting range: prices move with the exchange rate and stock, and the advertised price is not always what you pay.

Solar panel prices in Uganda by wattage

These are asking prices from Jiji Uganda and Ugandan solar retailers. Panels are listed by wattage, and the price rises roughly in line with it, with brand making the difference inside each band.

  • 200W: UGX 202,000 for a Cworth monocrystalline 24V panel (retailer article, May 2026).
  • 300W: about UGX 330,000 to 340,000 on Jiji Uganda listings.
  • 350W: UGX 312,000 for a Cworth monocrystalline panel (May 2026).
  • 400W to 450W: about UGX 420,000 for 400W and UGX 450,000 for 450W on Jiji. A Jinko 425W panel was listed at UGX 918,000 in May 2026, which shows how far a branded product can sit above generic listings.
  • 500W: about UGX 540,000 to 550,000 on Jiji.
  • 600W: UGX 570,000 to 580,000 on Jiji, and UGX 429,000 for a Cworth 600W panel on a specialist retailer site.

The gap between the cheapest and dearest 600W listing is large enough that you should always ask what the wattage label says, what the warranty is, and whether the seller will let you check the panel before you pay.

Hybrid solar inverter prices

The inverter is the part that converts power and, in a hybrid system, manages the battery and the grid. Prices below are listings from Jiji Uganda and a specialist retailer.

  • 1.5kVA (12V): about UGX 580,000 to 725,000 across several listings.
  • 2kVA to 2.5kVA: UGX 850,000 for a TTNergy 2.5kVA 12V; a Sukam 2kVA hybrid at UGX 1,100,000.
  • 3kW to 4.2kVA: an SRNE 3kW 24V hybrid at UGX 1,062,000; a Sukam 3kW at UGX 1,595,000; a Sukam 4.2kVA at UGX 1,705,000.
  • 5kVA to 6.2kVA: a Sumry 5kVA 48V hybrid at UGX 1,300,000 on Jiji, a Sako 5kVA at UGX 1,980,000, a Sukam 6.2kVA at UGX 2,068,000.
  • Premium brands: a Raion J5 5kVA hybrid at UGX 4,598,000 and a GoodWe 5kW 48V hybrid at UGX 5,738,040.

The larger the gap in price for the same kVA rating, the more you should ask about surge capability, warranty and local service. A cheap inverter with no service support can cost more in the long run.

Solar battery prices in Uganda

Batteries are usually the most expensive part of a home system. Listings seen in October 2026:

  • 100Ah 12V: Ritar at UGX 594,000; Cworth gel at UGX 645,150; Chloride Exide at UGX 733,425.
  • 200Ah 12V: Ritar at UGX 979,000; Ronix deep-cycle gel at UGX 1,149,500; Soleil Power at UGX 1,559,250.
  • Lithium: a Sukam 2.56kWh unit at UGX 1,265,000; a Sukam 5.12kWh at UGX 3,910,000; a Deye 5.12kWh at UGX 3,500,000 on Jiji.

Lead-acid and gel batteries cost less up front, while lithium costs more per unit but stores more usable energy. Compare on usable kilowatt-hours and warranty, not on the headline amp-hour number alone.

Complete home solar system prices in Uganda

Complete systems bundle the panels, inverter, battery and often installation. Specialist retailer listings in October 2026 included:

  • 1kW hybrid system (Masrcorp): UGX 3,775,200.
  • 2kW hybrid system (Masrcorp): UGX 6,176,456.
  • 3kW with 5kWh battery (Deye): UGX 10,092,680.
  • 3kW with 5kWh battery (Dyness): UGX 11,702,000.

On Jiji Uganda, a 1,000W energy system was listed at UGX 3,000,000 and a 300W smart solar kit at UGX 1,880,000. Small solar lighting kits for basic lights and phone charging are listed from about UGX 55,000 to 110,000. A separate listing for a solar installation service showed UGX 500,000, though the real cost depends on the size of the job and the roof.

One retailer article from May 2026 also gave a dollar estimate of about US$2,000 for a 2kW grid-tied system with batteries, with quotes varying by up to 20 percent. I have not converted that into shillings, because the rate moves.

Choosing an installer

A good installer matters as much as good equipment. Ask for photos and a contact for a similar job they have completed, a written quote listing every component by brand and wattage, and the warranty on the installation work itself. Be wary of any quote that gives only a total with no breakdown. Check cable sizes and where the batteries will sit, since heat and poor ventilation shorten battery life.

Taxes and the grid

I could not confirm the current VAT and import-duty treatment of panels, inverters and batteries from the Uganda Revenue Authority, so I am not stating a rate. Ask your supplier whether their price includes tax and get that in writing, and check with the Uganda Revenue Authority if you import yourself. On the grid side, Umeme's distribution concession ended and the state-owned Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) took over from April 2025. The new tariffs announced then included a lifeline rate of UGX 250 per unit for qualifying households using up to 100 units a month and UGX 756.2 per unit for standard domestic users, for April to June 2025. Check the latest published tariff before comparing solar savings to your bill.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 5kVA solar system cost in Uganda? There is no single number, because it depends on panel count and battery size. In the listings above, a 5kVA hybrid inverter alone runs from about UGX 1,300,000 (Sumry) to UGX 4,598,000 (Raion J5), and a 5kWh lithium battery runs about UGX 3,500,000 to 3,910,000, before panels and installation. Ask for a written quote.

What is the cheapest way to get solar power? A small lighting kit costs from about UGX 55,000 to 110,000, but it will not run a fridge or TV. For that you need a proper panel, inverter and battery set.

Are cheap 600W panels genuine? Not always. Panels of the same wattage are listed at very different prices, so check the label, the brand and the warranty before paying.

Are these prices current? They are listings seen in October 2026 (one source is from May 2026). Prices move with the exchange rate and stock, so use live solar listings on Comilmart to see current figures from sellers.
