If you are checking the fridge price in Kenya before you spend, the honest answer is that the same capacity can cost anywhere from about KSh 20,000 to over KSh 150,000 depending on brand, door layout and whether it is frost-free. This guide pulls together prices we found on Kenyan retailer pages and classified listings in October 2026 for brands such as Hisense, VON, Samsung, Ramtons, LG and a few budget names, so you can see where your budget really lands.
Fridge prices in Kenya at a glance
Hotpoint Kenya, an appliance retailer, groups its fridges into three rough tiers in a buying guide published in July 2026 (page last modified 8 October 2026). Budget is KSh 25,000 to KSh 45,000 for basic top-freezer models of roughly 200 to 300 litres. Mid-range is KSh 45,000 to KSh 80,000 for bigger models with better energy ratings and inverter compressors. Premium starts at KSh 80,000 and covers French-door and smart models. Treat these as a retailer's own guide rather than a market average: small 90 to 170 litre fridges from the same shop come in below the budget band, as the tables below show.
Single door and mini fridge prices in Kenya
Small fridges are what most bachelors, students and single-room tenants buy. On Hotpoint Kenya's site in 2026, the Hisense RS-12DR4SA 94-litre mini fridge was KSh 21,495, the VON VRM-91DRAS 90-litre was KSh 19,995, and the VON VRS-171DRAS 170-litre single door was KSh 28,995. On Jiji Kenya in early October 2026, new listings included a Skyworth 90-litre single door at KSh 13,199, a Rebune 90-litre at KSh 15,000 to KSh 15,500, and a VON 176-litre single door at KSh 30,500.
The cheapest new units come from lesser-known brands. They can be perfectly usable, but check the warranty in writing and where the seller will service the fridge, because a cheap fridge with no repair route costs more in the end.
Double door fridge price in Kenya
Double door in Kenya usually means a top-mount freezer, with the freezer compartment above the fridge. Prices vary widely by litres and by whether the fridge is no-frost.
- Around 120 to 210 litres: Hotpoint Kenya listed the Hisense RD-17DR4SA (124 litres) at KSh 32,995, the Hisense RD-20DR4SA (156 litres) at KSh 37,995 and the VON VRT-166DRAG (166 litres) at KSh 34,995. The larger Hisense RD-26WR4SA (205 litres) was KSh 58,995.
- Ramtons: On Jiji Kenya in October 2026 a Ramtons 138-litre double door was KSh 25,800, a Ramtons 173-litre was KSh 41,499, and a Ramtons RF/239 196-litre no-frost double door in silver was KSh 47,500. For comparison, a June 2025 update of a Kenyan buying guide put the same RF/239 at KSh 58,900, which shows how much one model can differ between sellers and dates.
- Mika: A Mika 197-litre no-frost double door was KSh 43,000 on Jiji Kenya.
- Around 370 to 420 litres: The VON VRB-377NVAK bottom-mount (377 litres) was KSh 79,995 on Hotpoint Kenya, and Samsung's RT38CG6421S9 (393 litres) was KSh 92,990. The Samsung RT42CG6621S9 (415 litres) was KSh 102,990.
Samsung, LG and Hisense side by side and large fridges
For big households, side-by-side and large top-mount models sit at the top of the market. Hotpoint Kenya listed the Hisense RC-56WS4SA side-by-side (441 litres) at KSh 94,995, the Hisense RD-66WR4SA bottom-mount (500 litres) at KSh 109,995, and Samsung's RS57DG4000M9 side-by-side (583 litres) at KSh 149,990. The Samsung RT53DG7B60SLUT top-mount (528 litres) was KSh 151,990. At the very top, a Hisense 4-door fridge (615 litres) was KSh 359,995. On Jiji Kenya an LG 519-litre side-by-side was KSh 115,999 from a Nairobi Central seller.
Several of those Hotpoint prices were shown as sale prices, with higher earlier prices shown beside them, so the discount can disappear when the promotion ends.
Chest freezer and deep freezer prices in Kenya
Chest freezers are the choice for butcheries, kiosks, small hotels and anyone buying maize flour, fish or meat in bulk. At Hotpoint Kenya the Hisense FC-18DD4SA (136 litres) was KSh 34,995 and the VON VAFC37DHG (371 litres) was KSh 59,995. On Jiji Kenya, a VON 98-litre chest freezer was KSh 23,000, an Ailyons 99-litre was KSh 18,999, and a Ramtons CF232 190-litre was KSh 41,999.
New versus used or ex-UK fridges
The used market is active. In early October 2026 Jiji Kenya showed a used VON 190-litre fridge at KSh 18,000, a used LG 438-litre at KSh 53,000, and an ex-UK 450-litre deep freezer at KSh 45,000. Used fridges can save money, but you cannot see the compressor's condition from a photo. Ask to see it running for at least an hour, check that the seals close tightly, listen for loud rattling, and confirm that the plug type and voltage suit Kenyan sockets. If the seller will not let you test it, walk away.
What decides the price
- Frost-free versus defrost: No-frost models cost more but save you from manual defrosting.
- Compressor type: Hotpoint Kenya notes that mid-range models often add inverter compressors.
- Energy rating: The same guide says a 5-star fridge can use up to 40 percent less electricity than a 1-star model and that a fridge typically lasts 10 to 15 years, so the cheaper unit is not always the cheaper choice over its life.
- Size and finish: Stainless steel, water dispensers and smart features lift the price quickly.
How to choose the right size
Hotpoint Kenya suggests 350 to 500 litres for a family of four and more than 500 litres for five or more people. Many Kenyan kitchens fit a fridge 60 to 70 cm wide, and the guide recommends leaving at least 5 cm on each side for ventilation. Measure the door and stairwell as well as the kitchen space, especially for side-by-side models.
