Brazil Export to Africa: Angola, Mozambique and Beyond (2026)

October 12, 2026

Brazilian manufacturers have a natural talking point with part of Africa: a shared language. If you run a factory in Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina or anywhere else in Brazil and you want Brazil export to Africa to become a steady line of business, you have two audiences to think about. Portuguese-speaking buyers in countries such as Angola and Mozambique, and the much larger set of English-speaking and French-speaking buyers in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa. This guide covers both, the Brazilian export formalities you should confirm, and how to list on Comilmart. Rules and programmes below are as of October 2026; confirm them with the named authority.

Portuguese-speaking Africa: Angola and Mozambique

The Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) states on its member pages that the official language of Angola and Mozambique is Portuguese. For a Brazilian sales team this means you can write quotes, datasheets and emails in your own language with buyers in those two markets, which removes a barrier that exporters from many other countries face. It does not remove the need for local checks: each country has its own import documentation, customs procedures and product rules, and a buyer there should confirm them with a local customs broker.

Brazil's trade promotion agency ApexBrasil has been active in these markets. According to a report on the Brasil 61 news site dated 26 July 2026 (updated 31 July), ApexBrasil organised one of the largest Brazilian delegations to the Luanda International Fair (FILDA) in Angola, published a study on South Africa that identifies 581 export opportunities for Brazilian companies, and was running a business mission to Maputo for FACIM 2026, where Brazil is the guest country (Brasil 61 report). The report gives no total export value, so this post does not quote one. Check ApexBrasil's own site for current missions, eligibility and costs.

Do not limit Brazil export to Africa to Lusophone markets

The Portuguese-speaking countries are only a slice of the continent. Larger consumer and trading hubs often work in English or French, and a distributor in Lagos or Nairobi can order container loads of the same product categories you already make. A practical approach is to use Portuguese for Angola and Mozambique and English for everything else, and to keep one set of English datasheets as your master. Our guides to being a foreign manufacturer in Nigeria, in Kenya and in Ghana explain what those markets expect, and selling to French-speaking Africa covers the third language group.

Brazilian export formalities: the DU-E basics

Exports from Brazil are declared through Siscomex using the Declaracao Unica de Exportacao (DU-E). According to the Receita Federal page on prerequisites, which was last updated on 12 November 2025, the exporter and the declarant must be enabled to operate in foreign trade under IN RFB 1.984/2020, the company's legal representative is registered by the Receita Federal, and representatives need a digital certificate and must be listed as the exporter's representative in the Siscomex registry (Receita Federal, DU-E prerequisites). Product-specific licences, sanitary or other permits may also apply. Your customs broker or despachante should confirm exactly what your product needs.

List your Brazil export range to Africa on Comilmart

Comilmart is a B2B and B2C marketplace for Africa. A supplier account is created through the application at /apply-manufacturer, where a know-your-supplier (KYS) check reviews your company. Required items are your company registration number, tax number, a business licence upload, a registration certificate upload, at least two sample product images, your company mission, vision and core values, and at least one B2B category. Admin review is stated on the form as taking about 24 to 48 hours, applying is free, and country, state and city are free text, so a Brazilian address is accepted. If your original documents are in Portuguese, consider attaching translated copies as well.

After approval you can list products with MOQs and tiered pricing, run sample orders, chat with buyers and answer open requests on the RFQ board; buyers post those at /request-quotation. Payment is held under buyer protection until delivery is confirmed, with a 7-day window. You arrange and pay for shipping to Africa; Comilmart does not handle freight, customs clearance, duties or delivery, so read sea freight versus air freight for African exporters before you quote. For payment methods and currencies for suppliers, ask Comilmart through live chat or /contact-us. No buyers, orders or prices are guaranteed.
