Find African B2B Buyers Online: RFQs, Marketplaces, Fairs (2026)

Most manufacturers outside Africa know their product well but have no obvious way to reach the people who would buy it. If you want to find African B2B buyers online, you have several routes, and none of them is a shortcut. This guide sets out the main channels (trade data, RFQ boards and marketplaces, directories, trade fairs and local partners), how they differ, and how to check a buyer before you commit goods. It is written for export managers and owners of manufacturing companies in any country outside Africa.

Start with data, not with a mailing list

Before you contact anyone, decide which countries and products deserve your time. The International Trade Centre's Market Access Map, described in an ITC article, offers applied tariffs including trade agreement preferences, plus information on non-tariff measures and rules of origin. The article is undated and says the tool has been online since 2012, so check current coverage. The U.S. International Trade Administration also publishes country commercial guides with selling advice by market; its Nigeria and Kenya guides (last published September 2025 and July 2024) cover how goods are sold, distributed and serviced. You do not need to be American to learn from them, but remember they are written for U.S. exporters. For market-by-market detail, read the ITA guides below. See the ITC Market Access Map article.

RFQ boards: how African B2B buyers find you

A request for quotation (RFQ) is a buyer saying what they want, in what quantity and where it must go. On Comilmart, buyers submit requests at /request-quotation with the product, quantity and delivery country. Approved suppliers browse open requests on their RFQ board and respond with a quotation, or chat directly with the buyer. Plan differences matter here: per the supplier plan table, Standard ($0 per year) allows up to 10 broadcast quotations, Starter ($99) 50, and Verified ($300) unlimited. Comilmart cannot promise that any request will match your products or lead to an order. Read how to respond to an RFQ and win African buyers before your first reply, .

Marketplaces and your own listings

A B2B marketplace lets buyers search by product and filter by supplier. On Comilmart, a B2B catalog entry carries MOQs and tiered pricing and offers verified-supplier badges. To compare the types of platform available, read where to sell to African buyers: B2B marketplaces for exporters. Write product titles the way buyers search: product name, key specification, material and pack size, then add certificates and clear photos.

Trade directories, associations and trade fairs

Directories and associations of importers, chambers of commerce and trade promotion bodies can give you names. Treat them as a way to start conversations, not as finished leads. Some directories charge for listings, so ask what you receive for the fee, and ask your own country's trade promotion organisation whether it runs buyer-matching services. We have not summarised specific schemes here because they differ by country and change; check each body's own site.

Face-to-face meetings still matter in some markets. The U.S. International Trade Administration's Ghana guide (last published 6 August 2025) says face-to-face contact is the preferred method of transacting business in Ghana. The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) site describes the fair as organised by Afreximbank with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, with exhibitors from outside Africa listed among participants, and says IATF2025 took place in Algiers with Nigeria to host the next edition, IATF2027. Check the fair's own site for dates, admission rules and costs. See the IATF site and the ITA Ghana guide. We compare fairs with other models in marketplace, trade fair or local agent.

Local distributors and sales agents

The ITA's Nigeria distribution guide (last published 5 September 2025) says U.S. companies that export into Nigeria often engage local representatives, and advises due diligence on owners, taxes and finances and the use of experienced commercial lawyers. The same logic applies to any foreign firm. Our guide on finding a distributor or sales agent in Africa explains how to search, test and contract with one. See the ITA Nigeria distribution page.

Vet every African B2B buyer before you ship

  1. Look up the company in the official register of its country, not through links in an email.
  2. Phone a number you found independently and ask for the person who will sign the contract.
  3. Agree a payment structure before samples or goods move; see getting paid safely by African buyers.
  4. Send samples only to a verified business address.
  5. Put every deal in a written contract and keep the proforma invoice aligned with it.

Reply and follow up like a supplier buyers remember

Finding a buyer is only the start; the reply decides whether the conversation continues. Answer the exact question asked, with the price basis, MOQ, lead time and packing in the first message. Attach a specification sheet and two or three clear photos. Name one person as the contact and give your time zone. If you cannot meet a requirement, say so politely instead of staying silent; buyers compare many suppliers and a clear no is more useful than a late maybe. Keep a simple log of every request you answer, what you quoted and when you followed up, so you can see which channels actually produce conversations and put your effort there.

Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest way to find African B2B buyers online? There is no sure route. Responding promptly to buyer RFQs, keeping a complete product listing and using more than one channel gives you the most chances.

Do I need a local agent first? No. Many manufacturers start by selling to importers directly and add a partner later.

Can I list on Comilmart before I am verified? Supplier accounts are created through the application at /apply-manufacturer and go through KYS verification. The form states that review takes about 24 to 48 hours.

Will Comilmart find buyers for me? It gives you a catalog, an RFQ board and chat. It cannot promise buyers, orders, volumes or prices.
