Does Alibaba Ship to Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya? (2026)

Does Alibaba ship to Nigeria? Yes, in practice suppliers on Alibaba ship to Nigeria, but the answer has a catch that matters for your budget: Alibaba is a marketplace, and who ships your order, to which port, at what cost and on what terms is mostly decided by the individual supplier. The same is true for buyers in Ghana, Kenya and elsewhere in Africa. This guide explains how shipping from Alibaba to Africa actually works, using Alibaba's own help articles and customs authority pages read in October 2026.

Shipping prices, routes and rules change often. Use this as a planning guide and confirm every figure with the supplier, a freight forwarder and the customs authority in your country.

The short answer: it depends on the supplier

Alibaba's article Which countries does Alibaba.com ship to? says that after you place an order you are presented with shipping options such as air freight, sea freight and express courier, that Alibaba works with logistics providers, and that the actual shipper is generally the supplier. It says shipping specifics largely depend on each supplier's shipping policies, and it tells buyers to confirm whether a supplier ships directly to their country or whether they need a third-party freight forwarder.

The same article names Nigeria and describes Lagos as a major hub, with a warning that buyers should consider potential delays due to port congestion. It does not list Ghana as a destination and mentions Kenya mainly as the Mombasa transit route for landlocked Uganda. That does not mean suppliers will not ship there; it means you should not assume. Ask each supplier in writing: "Can you ship this product to Lagos, Tema or Mombasa, and under which Incoterm?"

Does Alibaba ship to Nigeria by sea, air or express?

Alibaba's guide to its Logistics Marketplace explains that you can request a logistics quote by entering an origin and a destination, then add shipment details to refine the rate and, where supported, place the order with a forwarder. It notes that online ordering is available only for certain destination countries and regions; for others you can use the chat button to request a custom freight quote from recommended forwarders. In plain terms: if your destination is not supported for online booking, you can still get a quote, just by conversation.

The usual modes are:

  • Express courier for samples and small urgent parcels.
  • Air freight for light, high-value or urgent goods.
  • Sea freight, either a shared container (LCL) or a full container (FCL), for bulk orders. Our guide to LCL vs FCL shipping explains how to choose.

Alibaba's buying guides give transit-time ranges for each mode, but they are general, they differ from page to page, and the ones we read do not give Africa-specific figures. Plan for factory production time first: Alibaba says factory lead time adds an average of 15 to 30 days before shipping begins, and recommends a buffer of four to five days for possible customs delays. Then ask your forwarder for a dated estimate to your port.

Alibaba shipping cost: what drives the price

Alibaba's shipping guide lists the main cost factors: origin and destination ports, transport mode, weight and volume, fuel surcharges, seasonal demand and customs fees. It adds typical extra charges such as terminal handling, documentation, customs clearance and peak-season surcharges, plus inland transport from the port to your warehouse. For air freight it explains that chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight, where volumetric weight is length times width times height in centimetres divided by 6000.

We do not quote per-kilo or per-container prices here because freight rates move with the season and the route. Ask for an itemised quote that shows every charge from the supplier's door to yours. Our article on landed cost shows how to add shipping, duty and local charges to the product price.

Incoterms decide who pays for what

Alibaba's port-to-port guide explains that responsibility at the destination depends on the Incoterm you agree with the supplier. Under DAP the seller delivers and the buyer covers import formalities and tariffs; under DDP the seller handles import clearance and duties; under CFR freight is covered up to the port of arrival, so the buyer takes on costs after that point. DHL Global Forwarding's Incoterms explainer says the same of FOB: the seller clears the goods for export and the buyer pays the main carriage and handles import clearance. Our article on FOB, CIF and DDP shows how to compare quotes.

A common beginner mistake is comparing an FOB price from one supplier with a DDP price from another. They are not the same product. Convert every quote to the same terms before you decide.

Shipping from Alibaba to Ghana and Kenya

For Ghana, the Ghana Revenue Authority's import procedures page says the clearing agent submits the declaration in the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), and lists documents including the original waybill or bill of lading, a certified invoice, a packing list, an Import Declaration Form and a GRA TIN or GhanaCard PIN, plus permits from regulators such as the FDA or GSA for relevant goods.

For Kenya, the Kenya Revenue Authority's how-to-import page says duties and taxes are levied on imported goods before release, advises engaging a customs clearing agent, and lists documents such as Import Declaration Forms, commercial and pro forma invoices, and a Certificate of Conformity from the PVoC agent for regulated products. Kenya Ports Authority describes Mombasa as a gateway to East and Central Africa. See our guides to importing from China to Ghana and importing from China to Kenya.

For Nigeria, the Customs Service describes Form M, the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report and a single goods declaration. Read our guides on import duty and clearing goods at Lagos port.

Does Alibaba ship to Nigeria? A checklist before you accept a quote

  1. Confirm the supplier will ship to your named port or city, and under which Incoterm.
  2. Ask for an itemised quote with all fees and a validity date.
  3. Confirm the HS code on the invoice. Wrong classification can cause delays and penalties.
  4. Ask who insures the cargo and what is excluded.
  5. Agree the documents you will receive: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and any certificates.
  6. Decide who clears the goods at your end, and get that agent quoted separately.
