Best Affordable Tablets for Students and Entrepreneurs in Nigeria

The best affordable tablets in Nigeria are 10 to 11-inch Android models with at least 4GB of RAM, 64GB or more of storage and a battery of 7,000mAh or higher. In listings we found in 2026, new tablets from known brands started at roughly ₦200,000 and went past ₦300,000, so a tablet is a bigger purchase than a budget phone.

Tablet prices are harder to verify than phone prices, because few Nigerian roundups cover them well. Where we could not confirm a current price we say so. Treat every figure as a range to check against live listings.

Do you need a tablet, a phone or a laptop?

  • Tablet: good for reading, lecture notes, video lessons, sketching, point-of-sale or inventory apps, and showing products to customers. A bigger screen than a phone, lighter than a laptop.
  • Phone: enough if your tasks are messaging and calls. If a phone is all you need, start with our phones under ₦100,000 guide.
  • Laptop: better for typing long documents, spreadsheets and software that does not run on Android. See our guide to the best laptops to buy in Nigeria.

A tablet with a keyboard case can cover some laptop tasks, but check that the apps you rely on work on Android first.

Specs that matter when you buy a tablet

This tablet buying guide keeps to the basics, and it applies to any Android tablet Nigeria sellers offer.

  • Screen size: 10 to 11 inches is comfortable for reading and notes. Smaller 7 to 8-inch tablets are easier to carry but cramped.
  • RAM and storage: 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is a sensible minimum. A microSD slot is useful.
  • Battery: Look for 7,000mAh or more for a full day of classes or work.
  • Cellular or Wi-Fi only: Wi-Fi models are cheaper. If you need data on the move, check the tablet has a SIM slot and supports 4G on your network. Otherwise use your phone's hotspot.
  • Software: Check which Android version it ships with and how long the brand says it will update it.
  • Accessories: A case, screen protector and, if you type often, a keyboard. Budget for these separately.

Cheap tablet price in Nigeria: what we found

These are the new tablets for which we could find a recent price or specification page. They are examples, not a complete or ranked list.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 (about 8.7-inch): a Lagos seller on Jiji listed a new 4GB/64GB unit at ₦210,000, with the page noting a market price of about ₦218,000 to ₦220,000. It has a 5,100mAh battery and a microSD slot. This is a single seller listing, so verify before buying.
  • Tecno Megapad SE (11-inch): an aggregator listing showed a range of about ₦206,000 to ₦300,000 depending on configuration, with an 8,000mAh battery and Android 15, announced in early 2026. The price on aggregator sites is an estimate, so confirm with a retailer.
  • Tecno Megapad (10.1-inch): specs listed include a 7,000mAh battery, up to 128GB or 256GB storage and 4G, but the page we found did not give a Nigerian price. We will not quote one.
  • TCL Tab A1 Plus (12.2-inch): reviewed by Techeconomy in April 2026 at about ₦310,000, with a 5G-capable chip, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and an 8,000mAh battery.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ (11-inch): a price aggregator showed roughly ₦360,000 to ₦466,000 depending on configuration, so it sits higher.

Older, cheaper tablets seen in some guides (for example 7-inch models listed for ₦30,000 to ₦65,000) come from articles that are years old. Be cautious with such prices, since very cheap tablets often have very little RAM and old software.

Tablets for students

Tablets for students Nigeria wide are mostly used for reading, notes and online classes. For students, battery life, screen size and weight matter most. An 8,000mAh, 11-inch Android tablet is enough for reading PDFs, taking notes and joining online classes. Add a stylus if your course involves diagrams, and make sure the apps your school uses (video calls, e-learning platforms) run on Android. If the main work is writing essays, a laptop may be a better value.

A tablet for a small business

A tablet for small business use should be simple, durable and easy to charge. For a market stall, shop or service business, a tablet can run sales records, inventory or invoicing apps, take photos of products, and show a catalogue to customers. Prefer a model with a microSD slot, a durable case and a battery that lasts through opening hours. Keep a power bank. If your apps need constant data, check that the tablet supports SIM or share your phone's hotspot.

Where to buy a tablet and avoid fakes

Buy from retailers or marketplace sellers who give a receipt with the serial number and a clear warranty. As with phones, be suspicious of a brand-new tablet priced well below other sellers, and test the screen, speakers, charging and storage before you pay. Our guide to spotting original phones from fakes applies to tablets too: compare the serial or IMEI on the box with the device.

You can browse phones and tablets on Comilmart, a marketplace connecting buyers with verified sellers across Africa. Comilmart is run by the same team that publishes this guide, so compare Jumia, SLOT, brand stores and other sellers too.
